In 1969 Tanya Berezin co-founded the Circle Repertory Company in New York City, the theatrical launching ground for many of her generation's finest actors, directors, and playwrights.

Through her work with co-founders Lanford Wilson, Marshall Mason, and Rob Thirkield, and the ever-growing company of creators and performers, Circle Rep became the vanguard for American theatre.

In countless productions, she established her own reputation as one of Off-Broadway's great leading ladies, highlighted by her 1976 Obie Award for her role in the original production of Lanford Wilson's The Mound Builders.

Her constant dedication to the theater led her to take the helm as Circle Rep's Artistic Director in 1987. Under her leadership, the company premiered plays from Craig Lucas, Larry Kramer, Jim Leonard, Paula Vogel, Jon Robin Baitz, and many others. The New York Times called Circle Rep, "The chief source for new American plays." Tanya also brought the talents of such actors as Alec Baldwin, Jeff Daniels, Mary-Louise Parker, Melissa Joan Hart, Cherry Jones, Calista Flockhart, Camryn Manheim, and Debra Monk to the stage.

In 1994 Tanya stepped down as Artistic Director to dedicate her vision to new and growing actors. Over this time, Tanya has built the foundations of many young careers as a private coach, in her studio classes, and on the set of daytime dramas. She has coached major roles in such shows as Law & Order, Oz, Will & Grace, and Ally McBeal, and films including Superman Returns, Night in the Museum, and The Station Agent. She has coached on set for daytime dramas including As the World Turns, One Life to Live, and All My Children where she was Resident Acting Coach for five years.
